Recently I stumbled on a very good website about colour and style:
http://www.colormatters.com/colorth eory.html
Apart from a few things I completely disagree on, it's a fairly good resource about colour, design and style.
I also just finished the latest book about Kate Moss which gives a good insight about style discovery. The basis of style is very simple: Know yourself, disregard trends unless something appeals to you and make it your OWN.

It's a bit the same process in any creative action. I for myself am very drawn to the 30s, Art Deco and the American Seventies. This has a lot to do with my childhood influences that have been 'digested' in a long process and that I have reinveted to suit who I am. So it has little thing to do with spending a lot of money, wearing designers or following the trends. Trends come and go and are roughly more or less the same one year after the other. The second and third most important things are colours (know your colours) and bodyshape.

I must have visited a 100 websites about colour and colouring since the last 3 years. Colour is the basis of style, once you know how to match them, everything blends together and makes sense.
My favourite websites:
pourpre.com
A fabulous colour dictionary (NB: in French only) that gives you the exact name of a colour (ever wondered what 'cognac' looked like?) and the chromatic code.
colour picker
Allows you to create colour harmonies to see what it looks like and train your eye to colour harmonies.
and my 5 stars website:
colour harmonies generator
- Feeling confused? let the colour wheel do the hard job for you
- Want to know what complement a particular colour? Use the colour wizzard, a bit difficult to use at first but worth the pain

It's actually my workmates who hassled me to take them shopping. We finally made up our minds and we'll meet this Saturday. I'm so excited! I won an award for the 'best dressed' in my team a few years ago and these girls only swear by Trinny and Susannah's What Not To Wear.
I know the colouring of my workmates already (that's very obvious in fact).
BW =bright and warm

BC =bright and cold

Colour swatch available @ colourcircus
I have asked the girls to get their shapes 'done' on that very good website called Myshape myshape.com
All you need to do is to enter your measurements and the website is providing you with your shape and tips and related clothes you can purchase on line (this is such a GREAT idea unfortunately international shipping is not available yet).
My shape is a 'S' and it sounds pretty accurate. It gave me new ideas for clothes and styles.
Another good source of inspiration is Fashmatch a very modern version of paper dolls where you pick and match tops, bottoms, shoes and accessories. Very good tool to train your fashion 6th sense.
Some of the outfits I have made up:

I will also have to start working on my A-Z project and my mood finder/weather database. I may even create my own website but still here where do I find the time to do that?
My favourite of all times books about style is 'The Pocket Stylist' by K. Farr (Illustrated by Anja Kroencke)

@amazon
This is where every girl should start. The text is great and informative and the illustrations cute and timeless.
