One of my other passions is Tarot. I got my first deck sometimes in the beginning of the 90's. In the one I had (Mythic Tarot) each card is linked to a Greek myth and somehow it makes a lot of sense because there's a continuity in each suite. If you look carefully at Greek mythology, it's a pure representation of human life's ups and downs. Learning to read Tarots is a long journey. You can believe in it or not but I've always found it very useful to help me taking decisions. There's a huge number of tarots available nowadays. Each card has a theme that can be developed into a infinite number of creative artworks. The most striking I've come across is the Bohemian Gothic Tarot.

While browsing for tarot decks this year, I found out about an HBO serie called 'Carnivale'. I was already a huge fan of the very unusual 'Six Feet Under' serie. Unlike Six Feet Under that runs for 5 seasons and 63 episodes, Carnivale suffered from loss of audience at some point and stopped after the second season.

Yes Carnivale is complex and weird, disturbing but it is something that's never been done before. So refreshing because of the little number of famous actors, because it forces you to think and decipher, I'm very sad that this masterpiece's life was cut so shortly. Considering the background of the creator (Daniel Knauf), according to Wikipedia he was an insurance broker with no connection with the movie industry, it's a huge achievement. I wish HBO had a given a second chance to it.
HBO has a tarot reading site that I highly recommend. It's a simple 3 card reading but will give you a foretaste of what an intriguing game tarot is:
