Cacharel

  • Jan. 8th, 2009 at 11:11 PM

My first encounter with Cacharel (created by Jean Bousquet in 1962, a fairly recent brand then) was at an early age. I was barely 12 when my older sister who was 19 took me to a huge sale warehouse a bit like TKMaxx though it did look like a warehouse lost somewhere on the outskirts of the city. Cacharel had a sub brand called phi-khi-psi. I remember that she bought me a wool chequered jacket in beige/black and a wool blue/black chequered jumpsuit. I wore those to death. The warehouse shut down at some point and I moved on borrowing waistcoats from my dad, old smoking shirts, making my own skinny trousers (that was 27 years ago, so really trends do come and go anyone pretending in the 00's they're trendsetters is a cute liar) and wearing my grandad's felt hat (which sadly I lost once playing around the central pole in the commuting train with open doors -yes open doors- the hat flew off the door and landed in a graveyard). So no more Cacharel until I had a little visit on their website and stumbled on the Eiffel Tower jumper:

And some more pieces I like:

The other half of the brand is Wakako Kishimoto, a Japanese stylist (ha ha!) who also has her own brand and worked with LV and McQueen.
