I didn't think much about Laura Ashley until recently. I remember back in the early 90s uniforms they had provided the staff when I was working at the BTA in Paris. My English workmates were caught up very often sighing and moaning about looking like peasants and they sure hated it! If I remember well it consisted in a long skirt in autumnal shades of brown and yellow with little flowers and a khaki fine wool scarf. That was rather pukey indeed but I got the scarf off one of them because I really liked it. Laura Ashley meant old English countryside by the fireplace and wellies in muddy fields rather expensive and unattainable.
I can't remember how I bumped into their website a few days ago but some stuff really stroke me. It may have been the Art Deco inspired flavour look. When I checked the prices I also was unexpectedly suprised how cheap it was. I left to Glasgow yesterday noon and spent a good 15 minutes figuring out where the shop was. The staff was really friendly and the shop well displayed. My lucky day as sale was on. This is what I brought back:
Deco rose silk scarf £12
Diamond rose tights £10
Pinstripe shorts £20
I'm really chuffed because normally brands like LA are a bit out of my range so I'm quite happy I was able to buy quality stuff for once. My only issue with the brand is that my bottom size is between 8 and 10. 8 is fine but a tiny bit tight while I already know 10 would be too big and unflattering.
All available in LA shops or at www.lauraashley.com
